Join The Studio

I’m so happy you’re joining me. Below is our short agreement for the first 3 months, followed by a form for your details. It should only take about ten minutes. It helps to have a short bio and your bank details to hand.

The Studio Agreement

Between Beth Elsdon Art (Beth Elsdon, 30 High Street, Tadcaster, LS24 9AT) and you, the studio artist named in the form below.

  1. The trial

We’ll start with a 3-month trial from mid-November. Towards the end we’ll sit down together, see how it’s gone and agree what happens next. Either of us can end the arrangement during the trial with 2 weeks’ notice.

  2. Monthly contribution

£35 a month, the same for everyone. Please pay it before the last day of each month, for the month ahead.

  3. Commission

10% of the price of each item sold, which covers card fees and packaging.

  4. Getting paid

At the end of each month I’ll total up your sales and ask you to send me an invoice. I’ll pay you, minus the 10% commission, within the first week of the following month, into the bank account you give below.

  5. Your work

You price your own work. Please label every piece with its price and your seller code (your initials) before it comes in, so we always know whose work has sold. We’ll curate the space together so everyone’s work looks its best. If you leave, please collect any unsold work within 2 weeks.

  6. The rota

Each month you’ll let me know which days you can do, and I’ll share the rota a month in advance. On your days you’ll:

    • open up at 10am and close at 4pm
    • keep the space tidy and welcoming
    • chat to customers and take payments
    • note down anything sold, and let me know how the day went

If you can’t make one of your days, please tell me as soon as you can so we can arrange a swap.

  7. Workshops

If you teach, you’re very welcome to run workshops in the space, with no charge for using it. Please give me around a month’s notice of your dates. For now you promote your workshops and sell the tickets yourself.

  8. Insurance and care

Please have your own insurance in place for your work and your business. We’ll all look after the space and each other’s work, but Beth Elsdon Art can’t be responsible for loss of or damage to your work.

  9. Your bio and details

Your name, business name and bio may be used on information in the shop, in The Manual (our shared guide for everyone working in the studio) and, with your OK, on social media. Your contact and bank details are kept private, seen only by me, and used only to run The Studio and pay you.

  10. Changes

We’ll be shaping this together, so things may change along the way. I’ll always talk any changes through with you first.

Nothing too onerous or scary, it’s just there to support us both. If anything isn’t clear, please ask me before you sign. Beth x
